We at Reel Time love a good viral campaign. Two of the most notable are what they did for Cloverfield and The Dark Knight. But over the past few month new sci-fi film from Ridley Scott, Prometheus, has been releasing some interesting viral marketing. From a Facebook game to Guy Pearce doing a TED talk. Over the past few day they have released this video of an advertisement for the android in the film. Kat an Tristan look at this campaign in a little more detail.

The geniuses behind Wallace and Grommet are back with a brand new stop motion feature film just in time for the school holidays. The story follows the Pirate Captain and his band of pirates who hope to win the Pirate of the Year award. Problem is they aren’t very good at piracy. But their luck changes when they meet up with Charles Darwin who says the Pirate Captain’s pet Dodo is the scientific find of the century. The latest teen phenomenon has hit our screens in a flurry of adolescent squeals and excitement. The Hunger Games has been described as ‘The Next Twilight’, and with Twilight just making mega bucks it’s not all that silly to try and capture that market. This film follows the character of Katniss in a future America where the extravagant Capitol rules over 12 poorer districts. Do to a previous uprising, each district must send two young tributes to compete in The Hunger Games, a cruel reality television event where 24 teens go in, and only 1 comes out alive. Is it as dull and lifeless as the Twilight saga or are they onto something a little more substantial. Kat and Tristan give us the lowdown!
Also this week marks the release of Mirror Mirror a fresh take on the Snow White story. Not to be mistaken for Snow White and the Huntsman which comes out later this year. Now it isn’t the first time Hollywood has released two very similar stories at the same time. So Kat and Tristan go back and discuss other similar films released close to one another.
It’s been a little while since we have published a podcast, many apologies! We have been having some technical difficulties which are fixed for the most part so we will be able to update these a lot more regularly.
In this podcast Kat take a look at the sequel no one wanted, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. After failing both critically and financially at the box office, they’ve decided to give the anti hero comic book adaptation another crack. With Nicholas Cage back in the lead role, Kat discusses if they’ve been able to improve on the first and if it is all that necessary.
